Our folks,
We had some great meetings this weekend! The preaching was outstanding on Sunday
morning and the testimonies on Fri. night were superb! Here is the report from
Sis. Carolyn Mills, our ace reporter!
Friday, May 14, 2010
Sis. Mildred Davidson prayed
after which Bro. Tim Drawdy opened the service. He read Luke 11:9-10: ask and it
shall be given you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto
you. He said he has been looking for a job and he asked and he knocked and it
was opened to him; he found a job. He was praising God! Today was his first day
working and he had to work until 6:30 but he didn't want to miss church. He
announced that we were going to have a testimony meeting and asked everyone to
get out and talk.
We sang “I'm Standing On The
Solid Rock”. Sis. Becky Collier testified saying that it was a good feeling to
be standing on that solid rock, to have that security under our feet; we are
standing on Jesus and we are planted. She read Luke 6:22 – The light of the
body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full
of light. Love not the world; the Devil knows what will attract you and will
try to tempt you with it. We need to keep our mind on the prize and our eye
single and when we are tempted the Lord will under gird us. She read James
1:14-15; sin brings death; it is the Devil dressed up to deceive us. She
read Colossians 3:2; Set your affection on things above, not on things on the
earth. She said the opposite end of what the Devil offers is what God gives us,
great and precious promises. God is so much more powerful than the Devil. She
told of a coworker whose brother was killed in an accident about a year ago.
She asked Sis. Becky where she could find a large print bible and has been
thinking of going to church again. It gave Sis. Becky a chance to witness to
her.
Sis. Marsha Miller gave a short
testimony saying that a little scripture can make a big difference in a person’s
life.
Bro. Stan Jones testified
saying that sometimes we have large crowds as we do when we have feast meetings
and have good meetings but the Lord can still bless us when we have just a few.
He testified how when he first walked in the church in Charleston the Lord
showed him there was a way out of sin. He said if someone had told him then
that he would come back the next day and get his sins forgiven and then come
back and get sanctified he would have found it hard to believe. He told how he
needed to get out of Charleston and the influence of his friends in the world
and how the Lord put it in Bro. Bobby Reese’ heart to give him a job in
Sylvester and made a way for him to move and attend the church in Leesburg. The
Lord has a plan and opens doors. He said it is not necessary to backslide but
the Lord makes a way to come back to Him. He thanks God for the church and the
Reese family and what they have done for him. He said shouldn’t we realize the
good things about people when we are with them. God always has a plan.
Bro. Brian Collier said
he can't prophesy but he can tell what sin will do to you. He said it takes a
lot of worry off to know that we are not in control. He read Revelation 3:14
and he said he just wanted to say one thing, AMEN to what has been said. He
said God takes notice when we lose our jobs; he looks at every single person and
knows every single one and knows what is going on in their life. If he takes
notice of the little sparrow he knows about us. He read 2 Cor. 1:20-24; he has
anointed us and sealed us. If the Devil has a question about his life he can
take it up with God. He said all things work together for good to them that
love God; do you love Him to the saving of your soul? he asked. He said the
Amen is Jesus. The 23rd verse says “moreover I call God for a record
upon my soul” Jesus will look at the record and say you did what I told you to
do, well done. He is a God of love; it is his will to work with us on this side
of eternity. He said we have a lot going on in the world and there is a lot of
confusion, but the Lord is not the author of confusion; confusion is of the
Devil. Go to the Bible; it is not confusing. We can trust in it; it is true and
we can stand on the solid rock.
Bro. Bobby Reese read from St.
John 17 and was very excited that he had a mystery revealed to him; he learned
about “God’s math”. The 21st verse said “That they all may be one; as
thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us; that
the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” The 23rd verse – I in
them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one. He said 1 + 1 + 1 =
1 – That’s God’s math! He quoted John 3:16, God is Love. He said God has a
plan; it’s not what we need, it’s what God needs. If we say we are a Christian
we should walk like a Christian. He said the Lord could have been anything but
He was on the cross for us. We are all one in Christ, one in the body of
Christ. He said when God reveals a mystery you want to share it. He said if
you want to know God, get on your knees and ask forgiveness and ask the Lord to
come into your heart and be sanctified. He reminded us that 1 + 1+ 1 = 1.
Bro. Bobby closed the service
and asked for short testimonies.
Sis. Mildred Davidson, Sis.
Tania Price, Sis. Ashley Miller, Bro. Went Miller and Bro. Johnny Mills gave
short testimonies.
Sis. Carolyn Mills led the
family prayer. We were dismissed by Bro. Gary Collier. Bro. Bobby Reese ran
the service. We had 24 in attendance.
Sunday, May 16, 2010
Bro. Paul Copeland began the
service with prayer. Sis. Jamie Fulford opened the meeting. She told of
reading a book by a man that said he was tired of the contemporary churches that
preach a feel-good religion and water down the truths in the Bible. We need to
hear these truths when we come to church, not the “feel-good” stuff. She said
she likes positive things and avoids negative people but she wants the truth.
Her Sunday School class has been studying in Acts and she had been thinking
of Ananias and Sapphira; she said they sold their land and held back and lied
about it; they were both struck dead. This has worked on her she said; if you
knew you were going to die, would you lie. She read Matt. 11:28-30; there may
be times when we are in trouble, but He makes everything light and brings
peace. She read the song “The Windows Of Heaven Are Open.
Bro. Bob Reese, Sr. talked
about the church fellowship Saturday and what a good time everyone had
together. He was encouraged by his daughter Jamie’s testimony. He told about
his fall and how Jesus took care of him; He is the most important person in his
life. He is thankful that Jesus came his way one day and that he answered His
call and he is on his way to heaven.
Bro. Marvin Davis testified
saying that the love of God is greater far. He said he is so tired of all the
bad news in the newspapers and on television; wouldn't it be great to pick up a
newspaper and the story would be “there were no robberies today, no murders, no
one was one killed in wars. People don't know what love is all about if
they don't know Him; the Devil is in the world. Are you going to continue
serving the Devils or serve God? He is glad he is a part of the body of Christ.
Bro. Brian Collier preached a
powerful sermon from Joshua 7. He said we learned about the Battle of Jericho
when we were small children; God gave Joshua explicit instructions of what do
and the wall fell down flat. He wanted to let us know what happened after the
wall fell down. Joshua told the two men that had spied out the land to get Rahab
and all that was in her house out and burn the city. Everyone and everything
else except the gold and silver and the brass and iron that was to be put in the
treasury for the Lord’s house was to be utterly destroyed. The city was
burned. The people were told not to take of the accursed things; they would be
accursed. But the children of Israel committed a sin; Achan took of the
accursed thing and God’s anger was kindled against the children of Israel.
Joshua sent men from Jericho to view the country; they came back and said they
would only need two or three thousand men to smite Ai; they were defeated by Ai.
Bro. Brian said they could conquer a mighty city but couldn't defeat puny
little Ai. Joshua asked the Lord why? The Lord said to Joshua “Israel hath
sinned, and they have transgressed my covenant which I commanded them”; there
was sin in the camp. They could go no further until the sin was removed. They
went from tent to tent and found it in a hole in the tent of Achan; Joshua told Achan
to make confession unto him and tell him what he had done and don't hide it from
me. Achan said that he had indeed sinned against the Lord God of Israel. Bro.
Brian paraphrased what Achan did: I saw it, I wanted it and I took it. That is
what a lot of people do today. By that one act of covetousness and greed
everything was destroyed. God does not look on sin any less today than He did
in the Old Testament; sin has no place in the life of a believer. Sin had to be
eradicated from the camp. Achan was punished because of his disobedience. We
have to get rid of sin from our homes and our work places. The one thing that
was different with Achan, he had his sin hidden; we can't hide sin. Bro. Brian
read 2 Tim. 2:19 –22; the Lord knows those that are his; are you one of his;
are you putting his name on your doorpost? Depart from iniquity; purge yourself
from sin. Some people don't grow up and mature. He said his little son will
reach for things that are not good for him; adults are the same way. I saw it,
I want it and I took it. Call on the Lord with a pure heart. He read
Ephesians 3:16-20. How much strength does He have? He has unlimited strength.
And to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge –God is the Word and
Love. Then we are able to comprehend, to know the love of Christ. He is
able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. He read
Ephesians 4:18-19; people have their understanding darkened, being past
feeling. Some people have been so accustomed to seeing so much going on in the
world they have become jaded; this ought not to be, we need to be horrified. If
you know Christ put off the old man and put on the new man which after God is
created in righteousness and true holiness. How does Achan relate to us today;
they suffered defeat until they got sin out of the camp. He read from Isaiah
40:26-29. He gives power to the faint. Bro. Brian said he can't fix you but he
knows one that can fix you. Even the youth shall stumble. Achan stood and
looked at the sin and impulse kicked in – I see it, I want it, I'm going after
it. He came up against temptation and gave in; stand and wait; they shall renew
their strength. He is all that we need; we have been given so much; we have
been given the keys to the Kingdom. He read 1 Peter 1:18-25 saying that we must
be born again. Things that seem so important now won't be in ten years. He said
if you lack power in your life he can tell you where it power is. You have to
bow before the Lord with a humble and contrite heart.
He closed the service and
called for prayer. Sis. Ruth Camp led the family prayer. After prayer,
announcements were made. Bro. Brian reminded us that Atlanta and Leesburg has
Bible School at Camp Meeting this year and that our time to serve this year is
the first Saturday night and everyone that can plan to be there to help.
We were dismissed by Sis. Kelli
Miller. Sis. Marsha Reese ran the service. We had 60 in attendance.

After
prayer by Sis. Carolyn Mills, Bro. Tom Collier opened the service. He said we
don't have to be in church to call on Jesus; we can call on Him anytime and have
fellowship with Him. Even if it is just He and us, we have a majority. He read
from Ephesians 3 and talked about the mystery of Christ. Jesus was the Word and
was revealed when He came, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. He also read
Ephesians 4:22-24; the truth will make you free, free from the world and the
power of Satan. Put on the new man, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. What
must we do to be saved – repent and be sanctified; he will guide us through this
life. He announced that we were going to have a testimony meeting.
Bro.
Gary Collier gave his testimony of getting sanctified at the age of eleven. He
is the oldest of five boys and his mother always taught them that “sanctified
people do this" or "sanctified people don't do that” and always trusted God that
they would all be sanctified. He said all but one is serving the Lord today.
He said he started serving God when he was young and not when he was old and had
run out of options. The people he grew up with had the same opportunity he had
but some chose not to get sanctified. Serving God is a choice young people
should make; it sets the tone for your life. He read 1 Tim. 1:1-9 saying that
the law was for the lawless and unholy. He said some things society says are ok
but God says it is not ok. This is what the law was for but it was a
schoolmaster to bring us to Christ. We should live soberly, righteously and
Godly in this present world.
Bro.
Bobby Reese, Jr. gave an impassioned testimony saying that he thanks Jesus for
everything in his life. We have to take the first step. Many people are
hurting. He said when he was young Wendy’s had a commercial where a little old
lady said “where’s the beef”; we have the beef, we have what the world needs.
When Satan slaps us He will slap him back twice. He read from Acts 2 saying
that the people thought they were full of new wine; people are always trying to
make us different. He said that we can always talk to God; He will show us the
way. When we take a wrong step the Lord will bring us back into step. This is
that which was spoken by Joel in the Old Testament; I will pour out my Spirit.
They were talking about the Holy Ghost even in the Old Testament. Whosoever
will can come and be saved. He said if you don't know anything else, you can
call out “Jesus help me!” The world has a lot to entice you away from God but
He can give you the strength to withstand the Devil. The Word was spoken to all
men; He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. God is the
controller; He is at the switch. He said when you receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit it is the greatest gift you will ever receive. Three thousand was
added to the church; we get excited when one gets sanctified; he said just
imagine what we would do if three thousand got sanctified. He is going to speak
to people about what God has done for him wherever he goes. They sold their
possessions and gave to the poor; all are equal in the sight of God. He read
Isaiah 55:6-13. Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he
is near. there is no sin that God will not forgive if we call on Him. He said
the rain comes down and waters the earth and brings forth bud. He said instead
of planting the seed we want to buy the bush; all we have to do is plant the
seed and water to keep it alive. You have to have trials and tribulations to
have blessings; we need to pray for people we see hurting. He said how he got
sanctified is a mystery; the seed was planted, it just needed a little light.
He read Revelation 22:12 – Behold I come quickly; blessed are they that doeth
his commandments. He said he doesn't like to stand in lines. If he goes to a
restaurant and there is a long line he will leave but he hopes there is a line
when he gets to heaven; he will wait his turn. He will be rejoicing in the
Lord.
Bro.
Went Miller said Bro. Bobby gave the word; we just need to apply it to our
lives; there is no wavering up and down; we have to be “locked in” to the Lord.
The word will lock us in tighter with the Lord. He talked on the perfection
that the Lord brings. He read Psalms 18:32; God makes us perfect; He can do
what He wants. He read Matt. 5:48 and John 17:23: You can't be perfect in
yourself; you have to have the Lord in your life. He read 2 Cor. 13:11: Be
perfect. He wants the Lord to show him what he needs to do. He is crucified
with Him. He read 1 Peter 5:10. He will make you perfect if you let Him do the
work.
Bro.
Gary closed the service. He said he loved the enthusiasm of Bro. Bobby and
Bro. Went. We can get focused on the past; you can't drive very far if you're
looking in the review mirror. He said even though we had just a few present,
the most important one here is God.
Sis. Kelli Miller, Sis. Becky Collier and Bro. Johnny Mills gave short
testimonies.
Sis. Kelli Miller led the altar prayer. We were dismissed by Sis. Mildred
Davidson. Bro. Gary Collier ran the service. We had 24 in attendance.
Sunday,
May 9, 2010
Service started with the children singing "Jesus Love Me" followed by them
reciting their memory verse.
Sis.
Barbara Miller prayed followed by Sis. Fay Hatcher opening the service. We had
sung "He Set Me Free" and she said she was glad Jesus set her free. She had
been thinking about our blessings and said she did not like the word “lucky”;
when good things happens to some people they say they were lucky; she says I am
“blessed “and that the Lord had really blessed her. She said that we were going
to have two mothers of the church to preach.
Sis.
Becky Collier preached a wonderful sermon laying out the plan of salvation
explaining the two works of grace. She read a verse that Bro. Tom Collier ended
our Sunday Class with from 3rd John, verse 4: I have no greater joy
than to hear that my children walk in truth. What a wonderful Mother’s Day
verse. She said that she always prayed for her children as they were growing up
that they might be sanctified; she is thankful that they are all serving the
Lord. She read Malachi 4:5-6; the coming of John the Baptist was prophesied.
He was a messenger of the New Covenant; the great and dreadful day of the Lord
was coming; judgment was coming; judgment was passed on the world. She read
Romans 8:3-4. If there are no speed limit signs posted then we can't be stopped
for speeding but Jesus took away our excuses. She read from Matt. 3:1-10 –
Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand; he said that this is he that
was spoken of by the prophet Esais. He was the messenger, the preparer and the
forerunner of Christ. He got people’s attention. She said he didn't look like
a high priest; she pictured him as a rough man that spoke with authority. The
Pharisees and Sadducees said they had Abraham as their father and thought they
were ok but they were not ok. Baptism was a symbol of their cleansing. He was
the voice but he was not the man, Jesus. The ax is laid at the root of the
tree. God has always wanted a holy people; our enemy is the Devil. The
fullness of time has come to redeem his people. Repent, you have to be ready.
John was the first work, repentance; Jesus was the second work, the Holy Ghost.
She read John 1:12 – But as many as received him to them gave he power to become
the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Jesus told Nicodemus
“ye must be born again”. We have to ask the Lord to forgive us of our SINS.
Tell him you don't like the way you are. He will say, “I forgive you. I love
you” The nature is still there; that is SIN. We didn't eat the apple; we can't
be forgiven of that. We have to have the Holy Ghost to get rid of that SIN.
Forgiveness takes care of our past; sanctification takes care of our future.
Even John the Baptist said, “I am not that man, there is one coming greater than
I”. We have to get ready for the coming of the Lord. He takes up his abode in
our hearts when we get sanctified. She said she love the Word and loves the
Lord. She loves not only her children but also all the children in the church.
Sis.
Marsha Reese preached a beautiful sermon. She read from St. John 10 – Jesus
said, “My sheep hear my voice and I know them”. We know our children and they
know our voice. From the womb they recognize their parents voice. God creates
life; we nourish it. Doesn't God nourish us and feeds us? The 3rd
verse says he knows our name; even the hairs of our head are numbered. The
sheep follow because they know his voice. No one can pluck us out of his hand.
She read Matt. 7:7-11. Ask and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find;
knock and it shall be opened unto you. She said she read that there are 8,000
promised of God and we can depend on all of them. There was a reason he gave
his Son; all of us can relate to this. It is hard to imagine giving up our
children. She read Romans 5:15-17. It is a free gift, Grace, unmerited
favor. We receive an abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness by Jesus
Christ. What a gift we have! That love never tires. Someone asked her if God
ever gets angry with us. She doesn't think so because he would have to get rid
of us a long time ago; we can grieve him. She read Romans 8:35-39 – nothing can
separate us from the love of God. He tells us that we are more than conquerors
through him that loved us. She read Matt. 22:37-39 and John 14:15 and
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14. If ye love me keep my commandments. She said “obey” is
thought by some people to be a negative word; there are rules that we need to
obey for our own good; we don't have to ask why we have rules, we just have to
obey. We don't know what is best for us but God does. The Bible is a book of
rules that we need to follow. She said she is glad that she had a mother that
taught her right; she is thankful for her mother-in-law, Sis. Polly Reese, who
was a Godly woman and another mother to her. She read Ecclesiastes 12:13-14:
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his
commandments for this is the whole duty of man.
She
gave the altar call after which Sis. Mildred Davidson led the family prayer. We
were dismissed by Sis. Alice Mustin. Bro. Gary Collier ran the service. We had
58 in attendance.
