Gary's
Musings

Just a year ago my life was
in a comfortable pattern. I was part of an established church in Stone Mountain,
Ga., my career was steady (I don’t receive money from ministry), my family was
happy and life was good! But God was starting a new church in Lee County that I
was a part of and little did I know how much that our lives would change in the
next year!
The opening weekend for CSHC
Lee County was in mid-September of 2006 – our first anniversary as a church
family is this coming weekend. (See our website for details…) In this past year
my family and I traveled back and forth to Albany from Atlanta from
mid-September every weekend until we moved to Lee County in June. Our daughter
was in her senior year of high school and wanted to finish at “her” school.
So we traveled and we
traveled and we traveled some more! We have watched God grow His church week by
week, ever so steadily. We slowly got adjusted to the idea of a major life
change for us. After 10 years in Atlanta life in Albany is a lot more sedate and
slow, let me tell you! We had a lot of unanswered questions about how God would
work this out or that out in our lives.
Today we’re citizens of Lee
County, our lives are settling in, and we are thankful that God allowed us to be
part of the birth of a new congregation! As a new church we are thankful for
every person that walks through our doors, and treat them as such. We want so
desperately to build a church that God will be proud of and that will inspire
people to live holy for God.
I’ve learned to fall in love
with Albany, too! I love the fact that I can be anywhere in town in 10 minutes
or less. Traffic jams are a distant memory here! I can buy anything I need in
Albany. It’s a good area to raise your children in. People still wave to you
when you ride by - wow. There is a lot of open land here that developers aren’t
tearing up to build subdivisions of box houses that are sidebysidebyside.
Housing is moderately priced. Westover High School hired my son as a teacher.
GSW accepted my daughter as a student.
Just like with any situation
that we face, life is what you make it. Or, if you’re saved, it’s what you allow
God to make it! My life’s journey started out 48 years ago in Virginia Beach,
Va. and Albany, Ga. was never on my horizon until a year ago… but it was in
God’s plan for my life since I was born. It just took this long for it to become
fulfilled.
What does God have planned
for YOUR life? Are you ready to follow Him? Will you say “yes” when He says
“go”?
