Does anyone remember the astrologist and psychic Jeanne Dixon
who reveled in making predictions at the beginning of each new year? (Google her
name if you don’t) I thought about her last week when I read about Pat
Robertson’s predictions for our country for 2007.
Anyone can look back in history and know
what happened. For example, you can tell
me what yesterday’s weather was if I ask you today. But we all want to know the
weather forecast in advance, don’t we?
How would you change if you knew your future in
advance?
If you knew today that you would have cancer or a heart attack
in the future, would you change how you eat and exercise?
If you knew you
would be in a serious car accident in the future, would you continue to drive?
If you knew that your husband or wife would one day leave you,
would you change how you view them and how you treat them... now?
If you knew one of your children would later regret a decision
they're making today, would you act to influence them to change it?
If you knew that you would die "early", would you act
differently? Would your priorities of today change any?
Many of us pretend that we will never die, and live accordingly.
Yet the Bible promises us that "it is
appointed unto man once to die, and after this the judgement."
Are you prepared to die? As one poet wrote,
"live so that when you die, all you'll have
to do is die!"
Often we don't get advance warning of death. Think of folks you
have known who died suddenly... there's more than a few, aren’t there? How do
you know you won't be one of them?
Are you ready for God's judgement on your soul? Remember, it's
not what your friends say about you... or your family... your church... your
minister... or even your spouse. It's what GOD says about you that will
determine your judgement!
Heaven or hell - which do you pick? What will you do to make
sure that it happens?
